COVID-19 is an ongoing threat that affects the lives of millions across the world. While thousands of people are in quarantine, thousands more are working essential jobs to preserve our way of life. First responders are on the front line, handling emergencies and putting themselves at risk for the safety and well-being of others. U.S. Tape and Label is working to help make their lives easier one face shield at a time.
Producing Virus Face Shields for the Community
We know our emergency response workers are heroes, but the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted even more all that they do for our society. Each one of them risks their lives daily to help keep us safe and USTL couldn’t be more proud and thankful for their efforts.
The sacrifices first responders are making have inspired us to give back in any way we can – especially in the St. Louis area, where our facility is located. While we specialize in labels, in the past month we’ve used our resources to produce and donate hundreds of face shields to teams of first responders in the St. Louis area, including the St. Louis Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, Clayton Police Department, Maryland Heights Fire District, and Siteman Cancer Center. We’re committed to supporting the men and women who are stepping up and helping the community, many times putting themselves in harm’s way in order to do so.
If you need face masks or labels in these trying times, contact USTL today.
Making Face Shields For St. Louis First Responders
The normal stress of a first responder’s job has been compounded by the threat of a worldwide virus. Wearing a face mask or face shield is essential to slow the spread of COVID-19and will keep those who are out working in the community safer. As the pandemic continues, we’ve seen an ongoing shortage of personal protective equipment. We realized that with the equipment we use as a label manufacturer we have a unique ability to help protect the heroes keeping our community safe.
The shortage of protective equipment for first responders in our community hits close to home for Jan Greis, USTL VP/General Manager. His son Colin is an Emergency Medical Technician with the St. Louis Fire Department and has experienced the ongoing effects of this crisis first-hand.
When we decided to begin producing the protective face shields, we called on some of our local partners to assist by supplying necessary materials. Rotometrics provided die cutting tools, Tri-Pro Graphics & Packaging provided foam components, and Multi Plastics provided additional materials.
With their help, we were able to produce over 300 face masks in the first round of production and distributed them to departments around the city. They’re now being used by public safety agencies and medical facilities in their efforts to ensure that frontline personnel have the equipment they need.
“We are happy to accept a donation of facemasks from US Tape & Label Corp. The equipment will be used by public safety agencies & medical facilities in need to ensure that frontline personnel have the equipment needed during the COVID-19 pandemic.” – Mr. John Paul Jones, Fire Chief, Clayton Fire Department
