The Start of Our Custom Label Printing
U.S. Tape and Label was founded on May 31, 1950, by William B. Eiseman Jr. and Alan Ross. Both founders were World War II veterans who each invested $5,000 to incorporate and lease a 1,000-square-foot building. The building contained one press operator and a single two-color press. With these two pieces of equipment, USTL delved into flexography. USTL was one of the first printing companies in the nation to take the process on and quickly became a leading flexography innovator. Hard work and dedication continued to pay off as the label printing company expanded into full product packaging, label creation, and high-speed printing.
Growing Into An Industry-Leading Commercial Label Printer
From two small presses, USTL continued to grow into the largest privately held label and packaging company in the country, continually innovating and offering new solutions to our customers as technology advanced. USTL is still family-owned and managed by the second generation of the Eiseman family, Jim Eiseman.
Jim’s guidance and leadership has resulted in great success for the company. We work with the leading label material suppliers, seek out cost-effective solutions for our customers, and constantly look for ways to innovate our process.
Jim’s isn’t the only multi-generational family that’s part of the company. USTL prides itself in being a family company at all levels. Several of our employees have dedicated their entire careers to the company, and we’ve also been fortunate to employ multiple generations from several families. We are proud of our talented team and the dedication they show our customers every day.
USTL currently has over 85 dedicated employees and an 80,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. For 70 years, U.S. Tape and Label has provided full-service label printing and application services for companies nationwide, with digital and flexographic platforms that deliver solutions on time, on budget, and on-brand. For the past 30 years we’ve been able to offer a wide range of labels and packaging on multiple presses, including Flexo, Screen, and Digital, with printing equipment capable of using up to 14 colors in one print. In 1982 USTL added a machinery division that engineers, sells, installs, and repairs automatic labeling systems for companies interested in creating labels in-house. USTL is now a major distributor of both Label-Aire and CTM labeling equipment.
