In July of this year, a destructive flooding event wrought havoc across the state of Vermont. The storm dumped as much as nine inches of water on communities across the state in two days. The resulting damage done to individuals, business owners, and the state as a whole is still being calculated today. Many residents have lost their homes, jobs, and crops.
The IPA Collaboration
In the aftermath of the flooding, two well-known local craft breweries stepped up and joined forces to help raise relief funds. The Alchemist in Stowe and Hill Farmstead in Greensboro Bend created an American IPA called The Vermont Flood Relief IPA, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to flood relief in Vermont.
“The people, the places, and the businesses that we love and constitute our Vermont have been crippled. Business has a responsibility to give back and support the continued resilience of the people that form the foundations of its community,” Shaun Hill said in a press release. “This effort with Jen, John, and the Alchemist team is one of many ways that we are committed to our communities and the continuing recovery efforts.”
How USTL Supported the Project
USTL has had the privilege of working with The Alchemist Brewery Company since 2014. When co-founder and head brewer John Kimmich personally reached out to USTL with this urgent request, our team jumped at the chance to get involved and support the team’s efforts and their community. We provided 17,000 16oz labels to fulfill the order and shipped them overnight.
“U.S. Tape & Label, I cannot say enough. Rush order, beautiful labels. Thank you U.S. Tape & Label,” said Kimmich
How the Collaboration Will Support the Relief Efforts
The Flood Relief IPA flew off the shelves once it was announced, making the collaboration a success with a sizeable impact on the community. The funds raised, estimated at approximately $65,000, are being distributed to various statewide flood relief funds, including the Vermont Community Foundation’s VT Flood Response & Recovery Fund 2023, Capstone’s small business-focused Vermont Main Street Flood Recovery Fund, and NOFA’s Farmer Emergency Fund.
The USTL team was proud to be a part of this project and to see members of the community support the collaboration, and in doing so, support their neighbors.
